I realized the other day that these socks are probably my favorite thing I've ever made, yet I don't think I've ever posted about them because they were made 'pre-blog.' I forget off the top of my head which Rowan Magazine they are from, but the pattern is called Anna and I knit them with the recommended Rowan 4-ply soft yarn in the sooty color. I remember this particular issue had another great sweater pattern I would had like to have made but I don't think I have the patience to work with kid-silk lace yarn.

Anyways, back to the socks : It's a great pattern except there is no shaping around the ankles, so I went down a needle size there and it helped a bit. I like them with the ribbon tie, but I wish I didn't have to use it, but they just don't stay up on their own. I should wear them more, but I'm too scared to wear through the upper heel because they took so long to make!

those socks are beauties! I may have to look for the pattern and knit a pair myself. I'm so curious about the dress you're wearing. the side seams alone are so unique!

These are really pretty! I love knitting socks, they are probably my favorite thing to knit. But, like you, I am always afraid to wear my finished projects out of fear that I'll wear them through.

thanks guys! :)

janet, the dress is from the children's line "imps and elfs" - i'm not sure if this was an adult dress or not or just a large children's dress. i couldn't pass up the plaid :)

remember thinking those were magic in the magazine but they're even more magic outside the sort of weird rowan world!
