Cocoa has been loosing feathers left and right lately. When I was little I used to save all of them, but at some point I realized that was silly because there's just so many of them! I think she's been having a particularly long and hard molt this year, so I'm hoping it ends soon for her. About every hour I'll hear her cry out from preening too hard on a new pin feather - luckily she's kept up her spirits and hasn't lost any of her spunky nature or stubbornness (she's a very stubborn bird, and I always give into her - for better or worse!).

oh dear, poor Cocoa. I hope it passes quickly too. I frankly had no idea birds shed feathers, I thought they drop randomly. well, hang in there Cocoa!

thank you....i'm sure it will pass soon! birds do shed their feathers about twice a year and it can last between 4-6 weeks, but cocoa is more going on almost 8 weeks so i'm hoping it will end soon ;p

I have a big glass jar full of feathers from my chickens (they shed such big huge awesome ones when they were first growing up), and some little green ones from my parrotlet too! Feathers are so adorable. Our bird died a while ago but sometimes we still find a tiny green feather hanging around in a corner somewhere.

Oh, that first photo just took my breath away! You could attach them the same way to the archival board and frame them or even place them under the glass. So pretty!

Cocoa is gorgeous, she certainly makes me miss my cockatiel Hobson -I distinctly remember those shrill squawks during a molt. Look at that flight feather of hers, I can almost feel that one myself!
